Mr. Abblitt’s Class Blog for 2009/10

Honors Pre-Calculus:

• 11-24–Students were given a Ch 2 Retest packet (7 problems) to be completed over the Thanksgiving Break.; it is due Monday, November 30th.  The retest will be used to replace the lower of the two grades received on the Ch 2 test.  Eschool grades will be updated over the break.
• 11/16–In order to allow for winter activities to run their normal course, I am holding a 2nd MP EC session Tuesday evening from 6pm to 7pm.  Students were informed of the potential date last week, today I formalized the activity.  Obviously, students will need their own transportation to attend; they must be here on time in order join the session.  I will log students in and out of my room.  Thanks for your cooperation.
• 11/13–Another late notice; a number of students requested some extra time to complete “THE” test, and/or complete the recent CW 2-5.  For either case, I will be in my room from 8:30 till 9:30; after that time, I need to get gear packed up for the XC team heading to Killens Pond.
• 11/10–Sorry for the short notice; I wasn’t sure of my plans or the building status until today.  I was given approval to run a Pre-Calc help session tomorrow from 12:15 to 2:00.  However, we must be out of the building at 2:00 in order to reset the alarms.  Hope your student will be able to make it.
• 11/03–I have been back-logged on grading; and having the math department computers down all last week didn’t help either.  My goal is to be caught up by the end of this week.  Students should expect about 5 more graded items before the close of  Marking Period 2.  We will have a Chapter 2 Test, a quiz, class work, and probably two POD’s.
• 09/27–This week we will close out our current study with a two part test; an in-class Closed Book Test, and a Take Home Test.  The tests will be sometime midweek.
• 09/15–A letter was sent home today regarding after school help and Math 4 Breakfast; student attendance will need to be preceeded with a signed Permission Slip [ After School Help and M4B Permission Slip--09-14-09 ]
• 09/14–A few students have requested after school help; an option I will make available is a scheduled meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 following other after school practices.  I will need students to have a signed permission slip returned to me to be able to participate.  I will be sending a paper home tomorrow for those wanting to be part of the sessions.
• 09/03–I believe we are having a fairly successful start to the year.  Students are trying to remember what they forgot over the summer, and trying to figure out how to apply the new material being presented.  Also, I will be sending a letter home to those students interested in participating in my Saturday Math 4 Breakfast meetings.  My original plan was to start on the 12th of September, but I have a college soccer match to referee in New Jersey at 12 noon.  Thus, it looks like the first date available will be Sept. 26; there will be more information to follow.
• 08/19–First day of school for 2009/10.
